CELEBRATING THE DREAM
America is the greatest nation, but for a long time, not all Americans shared an equal opportunity to live the American Dream.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a minister, social activist and civil rights pioneer that challenged America to change. His non-violent, civil disobedience methods resulted in real changes that began to address inequities in our society. On Sunday January 15th, “Marvelous” Marvin broadcasts live from 1 to 3pm as HITS 106 is proud to help present “Celebrating the Dream” a special event honoring and celebrating the life of Dr. King.
The event is from 1 till 5 pm, in Sims Park, New Port Richey with live music by Shevonne and the Force, the Million Dollar Divas, and headliners the Black Honkeys Band. The event is free and begins at 1 pm with an address from Erik Metheney, honoring and remembering Dr. King. Seating is festival style, there will be food and beverage vendors, including beer and wine, no outside food, drinks or coolers please.
This event is in partnership with the African American Club of Pasco who will honor Dr. King on Monday with a symbolic march from Union Missionary Baptist Church on Pine Hill Road at 10:30 am to the historic Booker T.
